The History of the Wii Console

The Wii console was first released on the December 8th 2006 surrounded by mass rumours as a gaming device to take on the powers of the Sony Playstation and Microsoft’s Xbox. Nintendo had little success with the last 3 generations of their consoles, and all felt like this release was boom or bust for Nintendo as we know it. Luckily their placement and unique playing stance changed the shape of the gaming market by allowing players to interact with the TV in the same way a mouse interacts with a keyboard, making fun a revolutionary gaming devise that left their competitors back peddling to offer something similar.

Thus began the phenomenon we now know as the Wii.
