DSi eclipses 3 million in Japan

DSi

It should come as no surprise that the DSi has been successful in Japan, what is surprising is that there are still people in Japan without a DS yet. As of August 2, the DSi has gone home with 3,062,920 lucky owners, bringing the total number of DS units in the region to 27 million.

So, let’s see what that means, the population of Japan is roughly 127 million, and for the sake of nice clean math we’ll ignore people who have undoubtedly bought all three iterations, which means *calculator clicking* 1 in 5 people own a DS in Japan. That is a pretty impressive number. Also, it’s about the same as the number of Ashton’s Twitter followers. Just saying.
